The Auction House is the player economy of Mistfall Hunter — and the best money-maker in the game. This guide covers how it works, how to price your drops, and how to buy gear for your build without overpaying.

How the Auction House Works
- Location: Your camp — it’s a facility shared by all characters.
- Currency: Celestigold only.
- Listing: Set a price for your item; buyers purchase instantly.
- Search: Browse by item type, stats and price.
Selling: Get Full Value for Your Drops
Rule 1: Never Vendor Valuable Items
Vendor prices are a tiny fraction of Auction House value. Rare drops, recipes and cosmetics belong on the AH — vendoring them is throwing away Celestigold.
Rule 2: Check Prices Before Listing
Search the AH for similar items before setting your price. Underpricing loses money; overpricing wastes listing time. Match the going rate for fast sales.
Rule 3: Know What Sells
| Item Type | Demand |
|---|---|
| Rare crafting recipes | High (constant) |
| Unique cipher cosmetics | High (repeatable demand) |
| Well-rolled gear for meta builds | High (see best builds) |
| Rare materials | Medium |
| Common materials | Low — vendor or keep |
Rule 4: Sell Cipher Cosmetics
The Prayer Cipher cosmetic sells consistently — re-solve it on new characters for repeatable income. It’s the most reliable AH money-maker discovered so far.
Buying: Gear Your Build Cheaply
Rule 1: Buy, Don’t Farm, Build Gear
Farming a specific item can take hours. The AH often has it for less Celestigold than the farming time is worth. Check the AH before grinding for gear.
Rule 2: Prioritize Stats, Not Rarity
A well-rolled basic item beats a rare item with mismatched stats — this is true on the AH too. Filter by the stats your build needs, not item color. See the build guides for stat priorities.
Rule 3: Buy Off-Peak, Sell at Peak
Community observation: prices trend lower with fewer buyers online and higher with more. If prices matter, buy when it’s quiet and sell when it’s busy.
The Farming → AH Loop
The most profitable play pattern in the game:
- Farm with the Celestigold routes.
- Extract everything valuable (see the extraction guide).
- Sell the drops on the AH for full value.
- Buy build gear with the profit.
- Upgrade the camp (camp guide) with what’s left.
Auction House Etiquette & Safety
- Price fairly — overpriced listings just waste time; the market finds fair value quickly.
- Beware scam listings — some players list items with misleading names or stats. Read the full item card before buying.
- Don’t impulse-buy — if a price feels too high, walk away; the same item will re-list.
- Report suspicious activity — if you see obvious scams, report them through official channels or our contact page.
Common Mistakes
- Vendoring rares — the single biggest money leak for new players.
- Listing without checking prices — underpricing costs you real gold.
- Overpaying for rarity — buy stats, not colors.
- Holding items forever — a fast sale at 90% value beats a slow sale at 100%.
